Can you believe we are back to school already? After the first week of summer vacation, I am ready for the kids to be back in school and my house to be back to normal. Now that we are week into the school year, I am not sure I was as ready as I thought I was! Isn’t that how it always goes! We only have one living at home anymore, but that does not mean that we were off the hook for the college kid though!
I was putting the activities for the months of August and September into the calendar on my phone, which links to my husband’s phone. He isn’t a real big fan of his phone chiming repeatedly for an hour when I add practices, ball games, and meetings to the schedule but it really helps me out having it all at my fingertips.
Because we have three away volleyball games, FFA Orientation meeting, Class meeting, and two practices this week, I dug out a dry erase board, made a grid and put all the events of the week on the board. It is a great reference tool that sits right there in the kitchen that we can all refer to as we are getting ready in the mornings and can add to as things come up. I wasn’t sure if anyone would really like it but for the first week it has really filled our need.
I have seen great organization tools all over Pinterest and on other blogs, all that fit each families need for a command center. Since we are heading into a three day weekend, I plan on researching these command centers a bit more and come up with something that works for our family.
I don’t want to get too into this command center business because once volleyball is over, that is one thing that is off the nightly agenda and then all we have are meetings but perhaps this can become more than just a command center. It could incorporate grocery lists, reminders, coupons, etc.
