A couple years ago we bought a used 24 foot pool and spent three days putting it up. For the first summer it was amazing. We all swam in it every day that we could and had friends over often to enjoy it with us. At the end of the summer we followed instructions on how to close it up and bid farewell to summertime. The winter was brutal so come spring we were looking forward to opening the pool and enjoying it throughout the summer. We opened the pool up, followed all the instructions to a T and the pool was green. We were super frustrated but we had never done this before so thought it was “normal” and would clear up with chemical and cleaning. Boy were we wrong! It didn’t matter what we did or how often we did it, the pool water remained green ALL SUMMER LONG! It tested fine, we cleaned and cleaned it and nothing! We closed it up at the end of the summer with a plan to have a professional help us get it clean when we open it up. Then winter came again and boy was it a winter. There was flooding in February and the water was up the sides of the pool. Then the wind started. Once the water went down the strength of the pool did as well and the wind got the best of it. We took the pool down and cut our loses. The girls were sad but we had a nice place for a fire pit in the backyard. Throughout the summer we made plans on what to do with backyard space and started working toward our goal.
Then pool chatter started again. It only lasted a couple weeks before we just took the plunge, but this time the professionals are installing it. So today, I sit here on the deck while the employees from Illiana Backyard Fun are working on putting up the pool. What took us three days to put up once, they said will take them 3-4 hours.
First of all, let me say that this crew of four was amazing; super polite, helpful, clean; and informative. About a couple hours into their setup I had to leave and take our daughter to a concussion test for high school sports and so I missed the majority of the set up.
However, I left my phone at home with my husband and other daughter so they could continue to document the progress for me. When we got home, I was shocked to see that our friend was there with a tanker and had started filling the pool! There was less than an inch of water in the bottom and two installers were still inside the pool working on the liner, but in just a few hours the pool was filling up! It took three tankers of water and the water hose from our house but we were able to get in the pool by early evening. The water was freezing but it was up and the water was clear.
The summer hasn’t been extremely hot so our use has been hit or miss but we sure have fun in it when we are able.
